Wisdom Rediscovered: My favorite takeaways from 2023

1/2/2024

Last year I shared my takeaways from therapy which spoke to many of you. So, I thought I would do the same this year.

As I was preparing to get my notes from therapy together, I came across notes from a workshop I attended last year. As I read through them, I knew this was what I need to share with you instead. This was not what I had "planned" and ironically that is actually one of the things that was stated in the workshop:

"A healed mind does not plan but listens to a voice that is not its own."

Here is some of the wisdom I re-discovered from my notes from Barbara Huson's workshop on A Course in Miracles:

  • Fear and Love cannot exist at the same time.

  • Move away from anger as a source of change. Instead, use Love as a source of change.

  • You are never upset for the reason you think. You are upset because you are stuck in the past.

  • When you understand the cause of your misery or pain is your THOUGHTS, you get the POWER to change it.

  • Every time someone "gets" to you, you let go of your power.

  • Every single thing that triggers you (or annoys you or frustrates you) is your own projection. Everything and everyone we experience is a mirror reflecting our own selves back to us.

  • When you recognize your frustrations and annoyances are actually all within you, then you can create space to forgive yourself and heal within. This is how you take back your POWER.

  • Ask not for love but seek and find all the barriers that you have built against it.

  • Decisions based on an All-or-Nothing mindset are fear based. They are a result of your limiting beliefs and prejudices that help you feel safe.

  • Your ego feels safe in familiarity. Your power lies in getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.

  • Collective Unconsciousness Shared by Women: We are so scared of our own power because powerful women have burned at the stake for years.  This is harder for women because we are constantly punished for being powerful. Spreading ourselves thin is how we dilute our power.

  • You get to shape the world by waking up.

  • You need to change your thoughts in order to shift the world.

  • Grow your (and your children's) self-esteem, so you can ask for all that you desire and more.

  • All self-sabotage is self-rejection.

  • You are scared of your Power.

  • If you see something as an error, then you make it real. If you see it with love, then you move the collective consciousness.

  • When you get upset about something in the outer world, you have been shown something that needs to be healed in your inner world.

  • Power comes from taking what you are upset about and bringing it home to see how it can elevate you.

  • Whatever you want in the outside world, you need to give to yourself FIRST.

  • Everything you experience and feel is feedback. Pay attention!

  • When you are aligned with what you want and what brings you joy, you raise your vibration through love, appreciation and gratitude. All the while, discerning if it comes from Fear (loud voice) versus Love (softer, deeper, truer voice).

  • "You can only take someone else as far as you have taken yourself."

  • News brings the universe's energy down.

  • The best way to care for the world is to fix the evil within ourselves.

  • Mother Teresa once said that in order for her to do all this work, she had to get in touch with the Hitler within herself.

How to take back your Power:
  1. Take Full Responsibility: No one is doing this to me. I am doing this to myself. Therefore, I have the power to change it.
  2. Take Back Your Projections: Create the mind-sight to see that things are not happening to me, but actually happening BY ME. Once I can see the subconscious beliefs that are sabotaging me, I can heal them and evolve them.
  3. Harness the Power of Your Mind: Whenever a fear-based thought enters my mind, I must correct it immediately by reframing it with love, trust and abundance. "Above all, Let me see this differently."
  4. Constructive Separation:  Discerning between what I say I want and what I actually want. Ask myself "what do I want?" every minute of every day and if I don't have the courage to do what I want for myself, then do it for someone that I may love more than me (such as my children).
  5. Return to Love: All the wisdom and answers that I need are within me, abundantly filled with Love. I can tap into this part of myself by tuning into the stillness of my soul. "A healed mind does not plan but listens to a voice that is not its own."

How to get centered in manifesting your desires:
  1. What do You Want? Ask yourself What do I want? deep in the quiet voice of my soul.
  2. What are Your Thoughts? Examine my thoughts around my wants. Do my daily thoughts support it or are they focused on why I can't (or won't) have it? Reframe all fear-based thoughts with love-based thoughts that focus on trusting that the universe wants to support me and that I deserve it all and more.
  3. Be Hyper Sensitive to Fear vs. Love in Your "Why": Be extremely clear about why I want what I want. What is the incentive behind my decision or desire? The energy beneath my decisions is important.

This workshop shifted me in many ways. One of the biggest transformations in the past year occurred for me when I realized that everything I am experiencing is created BY me. This helped me see where my life needed to shift.  The hardest work was in trusting the quiet voice within me and having the courage to act on it (without a clear and concise plan that I usually need to feel in control).  Intention can be a more powerful force to change your life than a million goals and finish lines.

I wish and pray that this year you are able to take back your power by unapologetically trusting your inner voice (God, Love, Source, Universe...) because It really does want you to be happy.

It Knows you deserve it.

It is just waiting for you to Know it too.
