Amna Amna Amna... So many things to say and yet none of it really quite measures up to how truly special she is as a performer, choreographer, instructor, and flat out human being.

I first met Amna as a freshman at USC when I joined the "Hindi Remix" dance for the annual SCIA culture show. I was a bit timid at first, having had absolutely no experience in choreographed dancing other than a couple of extremely basic dances at a cousins wedding. However, within the first couple of practices I was amazed at how quickly the moves came to me and more importantly how much fun I was having while learning. Honestly, I did not and do not consider myself a good dancer but I always felt like one and always improved because of the confidence Amna instilled. I was fortunate to be able to dance with her again my subsequent 3 years at USC and can say without a doubt that Amna was a HUGE part of the success and recognition the indian community received at USC for both its SCIA Culture Shows and the award winning Anjaane dance team. I know for a fact that Amna made the life of SCIA board members easier when sign-ups began each year for culture show. The dances she choreographed filled up instantly (with a long replacement waiting list) and overall interest in the other dances increased as a result.

I could go on about how talented she is about all forms of dance but I find her patience, warmth, passion and enthusiasm for both teaching and learning to be amongst her best qualities. I have never seen Amna express any negative thoughts or emotions and sometimes questioned whether she is human (trying to deal with some of us in her dances was no easy task!).

I have no doubt that every single individual who has ever spent time with or worked with Amna shares my sentiments. Bottom line: Amna is a world class dancer / instructor and I have nothing but respect and admiration for her enthusiasm, talent, and work ethic.

Amna is by far one of the best dance teachers I have ever had! I first met Amna in 2008 when I started dancing with Bollywood Step.

She is such an amazing teacher and knows how to push all her students to achieve their best dance potential while still managing to have an immense amount of fun! I loved every minute of being one of her students and hope to have the opportunity to be in one of her classes again soon!

In my mid-20s, I decided to answer a lifelong dream and finally attend a dance class. How lucky I was to have found Amna. Amna's Bollywood classes at Your Neighborhood Studio in Culver City are hands down the most joyful, energetic classes I've been to (and now that I attend other classes regularly, I have something to compare to). Amna is a natural and gifted teacher -- she pushes and encourages her students, ensures they take care of their bodies, and makes sure everyone smiles. How could you not smile with her infectious enthusiasm?

Amna has allowed me to shake off my insecurities and to find a real love for dance. When people say, "Isn't Bollywood hard?" I think, no, but I know that is largely due to how skilled Amna is as a teacher!

I never work as hard or have as much fun as when I'm in Amna's classes.

"AMAZIN!" All is said in her name. Amna was a leader in dance throughout college and most of her life. Perfecting her artistic ability is a priority in her life and she truly is passionate about it. She always strives for better, and instills that passion in her dancers. She has a very pure heart and you can see that through her dancing style, never pretentious, never stereotyped. And she instills these characteristics in the dancers she teaches. She has choreographed, organized, and lead countless performing arts events, while keeping her intentions simple. She simply loves to dance. That is a joy she definitely shares with her dancers. So proud of her hard work because she is always smiling through it all! Thank you for sharing your skills with us Amna.

In the fall of 2009 I was looking for fun way to workout and found Your Neighborhood Studio and Amna’s Cardio Bollywood class. I’m not a real dancer but one class with Amna and I was hooked! She is such a joy to be around, always positive and encouraging even when she is kicking our butts! She creates new choreography every week, which keeps the class fresh for both body and mind. I’ve been taking the class for 2 years now and I see many of the same people there week after week. I think this is a testament to just how special Amna is as a teacher and person. In other words, Amna rocks!!!
